Thank you for supporting Burroughs Audubon at Backyard Bird Center!

Native plants bring birds and pollinating insects to your yard. Nesting birds rely on the invertebrate animals that native plants host, and hummingbirds are drawn to the nectar of flowers. In autumn and winter, sparrows and goldfinches feed on the seed heads of various native plants, particularly asters. The more natives you plant, the more birds and pollinators your yard will support. Grown from local ecotype seeds, Missouri Wildflowers Nursery produces plants that are adapted to Missouri soils and climate, and they supply plants for all of our native plant sales!
