“Audubon Conservation Ranching in Missouri” – Virtual event (Zoom) presented by Tara Hohman, Senior Conservation Science Manager with the Audubon Upper Mississippi River team. Grassland birds have suffered an unparalleled decline over the past half-century. These declines are tied to many causes, but the loss and degradation of grassland habitats stand out as driving forces. Audubon developed the Conservation Ranching program to combat the negative effects of grassland degradation on private lands. This market-based conservation approach offers incentives for good grassland stewardship with regenerative grazing through a certification label on beef and bison products. This presentation will share what the Conservation Ranching program is, how landowners and consumers can get involved, and how it is impacting grassland birds.
