Field Trip: Jerry Smith Park

The annual winter bird census at Jerry Smith Park, largest remnant prairie in Jackson County, is scheduled for Wednesday, January 21st, at 8:15. We’ll walk the trails looking for year-round residents like Northern Cardinal, Black-capped Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch and 6 species of woodpeckers as well as winter residents like Purple Finch, Hermit Thrush, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and 7 species of sparrows.
